About Me

Alicia Mitchell's Bio

Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, Alicia Mitchell was always interested in creative avenues to express herself. With a love of modern architecture, art, and anything crafty, Alicia has an ever-growing passion for design. Since her Stage Crew experience at Wheeling High School and the days of the old Trading Spaces, Alicia decided to attend college at the prestigious Harrington College of Design in Chicago, Illinois, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts. While in her final year at Harrington, she interned at an FF&E Company, specializing in Hospitality Design.

Now with over twelve years of experience in the field, she has been presented with various awards. These accolades include an Achievement Award for her Outstanding Performance and an Award for LaQuinta hotel Conversion of the Year in 2015 (LaQuinta, East Ridge, TN), besides completing over seventy hotels within her tenure as a Designer. Her presence in the Design Department of the previous company she worked for aided in pushing for better practices overall for her co-workers. Alicia always manages to set the standard in design, whether it be her floor plans, electronic design presentations, or presentations to the Owners at the properties. She is always detail-oriented and collaborates with the team.

Having now worked for over seven years remotely, she has developed strategic ways of designing for her clients in this new digital era. Alicia has presented many times using Zoom, join.me, and other virtual meeting platforms. Integrating technology into the design to add more functionality and purpose to space is what Alicia enjoys best. She loves contemporary, modern, and minimalist design aesthetics; however, she does like the modern farmhouse design as well, as she now is living in North Alabama with her husband, four-year-old son, cat, and even a gecko. Her hobbies include working out, singing, and dancing.

"I love designing spaces! I believe interior design is much more than selecting paint and fabrics. Interior design is about creating meaningful experiences and making the space fully functional for the owner and guests."
